Which Operating System does HIPAAsuite run on?

HIPAAsuite runs on commercial Microsoft Window systems like NT, 2000, XP. Windows 95,98,ME etc. are not supported.


Which database system does HIPAAsuite use?

HIPAAsuite uses an IBM UniData system. This database is uniquely designed to store the nested relationships that are inherent to EDI messages. While most databases store the data in speadsheet-like, flat tables, UniData stores the data in "objects" where all the elements of data are contained under one unique id. We believe that this storage model is more suited to EDI than any normalized database.


How does HIPAAsuite connect to UniData?

Through the TCP/IP protocol. HIPAAsuite Server and Client can be on the same machine or multiple HIPAAsuite workstations can connect to one central server through a regular office network..

Some facts about UniData:
  • UniData servers can reside on Windows, Unix or Linux systems
  • Communications with the server is through TCP/IP
  • Depending on hardware, a UniData server can support up to thousands of clients
  • Data access though

  • Dynamic file sizing guarantees a minimum of database administrative task
  • Database administration through Java based frontends
