Subject :Does the HIPAA Claim Printer export all the data elements in the EDI file?

In short: No

The good news: All the fields in the standard forms, CMS-1500, UB04 and ADA2006 are exported. Many more fields that do not fit on the forms are selectable for export. If there is any piece of information a client wants exposed we will make it happen. (Fees might apply)

The 837 format is too complicated and potentially too complex to be exported to simple database setup as the HIPAA Claim Printer uses. The HIPAA Claim Printer uses only two tables, Header and Detail, to represent the claim data. The header table has already more than 300 fields. The format as it is exceeds the capabilities of Microsoft Access and older versions of Microsoft SQL server complain about a 4096 byte row limit. A truly normalized database for the 837 claim format would probably require dozens of child and grand-child tables and would be a nightmare to administer.
